"Mild" 74 CJ5 Updates

Long story short I took a job in Bush Alaska last fall and bought this '74 CJ5 off a buddy after I moved up here, I haven't even driven it yet but plan on wheeling it memorial day back in Michigan. He calls it a "restomod" and spent a lot of time and $$ on it doing things the right way. The "goodies" include a glass tub, 304/t15/d20, 30/44 with 4.56's and detroits, all new brake parts/ wheel bearings/ seals, 4" bds yj springs, new steering parts, almost new 35" muds on aluminum wheels, full cage and corbeaus/ harnesses, 8k warn, newer full bestop and bikini top, a bunch of extras and goodies.

The goal is to build the jeep into an all around jeep that can run the rubicon and other "moderate trails" and drive 5 hours home. I've taken a job working in Central Nevada so I will be close to a bunch of trails and have thousands of miles of 2 tracks to explore close by.

While I was in Alaska I spent a lot of time collecting parts, here's what I've collected over the winter and my plans

Trans/ T-case Parts
2wd SM465 in great shape
Advanced adapters adapter to dana 300
Novak input bearing retainer/ modified t5 bell housing
All new hydro clutch parts including a novak slave cylinder
Dana 300 recently re-built with twin stick and a HD output shaft
High angle 1350 rear CV and 1310 front CV shafts (paid for just need to call with lengths)
Poly bushings for trans cross memeber

Axle parts
Rear u-bolt flip parts
Big daddy off road tie rod kit
New warn hubs (might sell them)
Stage 8 hub bolt kit
Drive flanges (need to finish pulling them)
Yukon super joints
Yukon USA stubs
Yukon cheepie inner shafts

Engine Parts
More HD motor mounts
AMC HEI dizzy
305 Throttle body
19 Gallon RCI fuel cell
In line fuel pressure gauge
All the fittings to make the fuel cell and TBI work

Tires/ Wheels
Almost New 34x10.5 LTB's
15x7 steel wagon wheels
Weld on bead lock kit

Other Stuff
Tire carrier kit
MORE Steering box bracket and clamp kit
Optima Box
Mount for my GPS

Here's my plans in "stages"

Stage 1 Get Ready for the trail (about a total of 36 hours between when I get to my buddie's house till it has to be back on the trailer to make the memorial day run)

New Starter
Finish Cage Tie Ins
HD tie rod/ drag link
Alloy front shafts/ hubs/ flanges
Give it a once over
New battery if it needs it
Finish up the bead locks and bolt the 34's on
Bump Stops if necessary
Round up and figure out how to mount up some trail gear

Stage 2 Trans/ T-case Swap

Swap in the 465/ 300
Hydro Clutch conversion
U-bolt flip on the rear axle to correct pinion angles

Stage 3 fuel injection/ odds and ends This stage "should" be done before I move to Nevada mid July. Fuel Injection might have to wait depending on the budget/ time frames though it would really be nice to have.

Install 19 Gallon RCI fuel cell
GM TBI conversion using a factory GM harness, 305 TB, MA engineering chip, HEI dizzy
Tire/ Gas Can/ Hi-Lift/ Shovel/ AX carrier
GPS mount
Better Trail gear mounts
CB radio

Stage 4??????
I'm not sure where stage 4 will go, don't expect anything "major" till summer 2011 at the earliest

Finish up anything that isn't done/ becomes an issue
Maybe a d44 with a selectable locker and alloy inners (keep the "bling" scout/ cj outers, I all ready have a second HD diff cover and 4.56's)
Hydro Assist
Rear wheel base stretch with some off set springs and bypass shocks
3 link front with coil overs and air bumps
35" "rock tires" on aluminum bead locks
