Fuel Gauge Help
I am trying to install my new dash with all new gauges, but I've hit a snag with my fuel gauge. The gauge goes to full tank no matter how much gas is in the tank. I have a 1982 CJ-7 with stock fuel tank and sending unit. I thought it was the sending unit so I bought a new one, but when I hooked it up, I get the same problem at the gauge. The gauge I am using is an Autometer 2642. It has a sender range of 73 ohms when empty and 10 ohms when full. Is this the wrong gauge for my Jeep or am I missing something along the way?

Hook a multimeter to the wire from the sending unit that plugs into your gauge. Measure the resistance. If that reads correct-->something is up with gauge. Also, make sure you don't have the + and - switched around on the back of the gauge.
The trick to trouble shooting is to isolate parts of the system for test. A multimeter is your friend. ________ Volcano Classic Vaporizer Last edited by atblis; 08-12-2011 at 03:24 AM. |
