Subscribed - same noise, same truck same year same engine. Seems to be less with higher octane fuel, but maybe that's wishful thinking.

My experience was the same, tap at start up, then tapping at idle all the time. On an 04 Rubicon.
Called the dealer and had them run the vin# for warranty info. Got lucky, 8 year 80,000 mi. warranty on the drive train. 100 dollar deduct. (2nd owner). Got it back 10 days later. Said the lifters had "collapsed". Took the head off in the jeep, and did the work. Don't know if they did a cam change, but replaced the lifters and associated "damaged parts". Threw in a new exhaust manifold as well. Did not bat an eye at lift and tires. 100 bucks total!!!! Good luck, Todd |
