SmittyBilt XRC8
I am looking to get a XRC8 winch and I am not sure how the roller fairlead mounts. My current bumpber has winch plate but no tab to mount the fairlead. From what understand the XRC fairlead needs to mount to a tab. Any suggestions?

My only suggestion......
NO NO NO NO NO That is THE worst winch EVER. I have installed a bunch and had to repair MANY. The last one I installed...brand new....had the solenoid pack wired wrong from the factory. This is the second one I have seen like that. YouTube - Stupid winch I have seen less harbor freight winch failures on the trail then I have of the xrc8. All kinds of failures, drum busting in half, gears stripping, housing cracking, bursting into flames, no power in one direction or the other. Other than that, the roller is standard size. Just weld on some tabs. The winch has a standard mount pattern also, which is nice because when you pull the xrc8 off and toss it off a cliff, you will be able to bolt on another winch easily.

We have one on our TJ and one on the CJ. Both been there a year, multiple pulls on each, so far so good. Got screaming deals on them new, so
![]() I'll run them until they quit or burn up. |
