which jeep?
my nephew is looking for a jeep to do some light trail riding and sling a little mud but still be able to cruise around with his gf on friday night. he has found a few yj's (91-95 models) pretty reasonable. is there anything he should look for or maybe stay clear of?

Make sure it is a 4.0L, just personal preference but I hate the 2.5s. Since it is a 4.0L the header is almost guaranteed to be cracked.

Get a YJ. They are cheaper to build without the coils, you can take the top off, and they are fun. Try to find one with the 4.0 (as already mentioned) and a manual transmission. Every kid should know how to drive one anyways, so if he doesn't, tell him to learn. If you can find one that already has some things done to it, you'll buy it cheaper then you can build it. Just make sure it was done right and not a hack job. |

Ive owned my yj since I was in high school, so im a little biased, definitely find a 4.0 (91 and newer). they take highschool 'i just got my licensce and my foot wont leave the floor' abuse very well and are still fun. they all seem to come with a 4" lift and 33s, if not it will end up that way probly within a few years.
