Jeep Post Accident won't start
Newbie question here. My Jeep was stolen last night out of my driveway and recovered by the police about ten minutes later. The bad guy lost control and crashed into someone's car in their driveway. Guess he wasn't used to driving a lifted Jeep
![]() Anyways, the Jeep didn't suffer that much damage but it won't crank over at all when I turn the key. Jeep has power. Question is, is there some kind of accident safety that prevents you from starting the Jeep after an accident? Either that or I'm thinking that the sensor that allows the Jeep to start when in park has been damaged. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Do you mean it won't crank (starter no workie), or won't fire (won't run)?

Does not crank at all. All the wiring looks good. Checked all fuses and they are good. Everything else powers up.
Before the accident every once in a while it wouldn't start and I would have to push the shifter forward and hold it while I started it. Seems like the same situation but it doesn't help when I push on the shifter. Auto tranny btw. |

Sounds like you had a problem with your neutral safety switch in the past, so that's where I'd start. Is this a Wrangler, Cherokee, or what? It makes a difference because they don't all use the same auto trans.

check your fuel pressure. i got rear ended last year in my 99 tj and it broke the fuel pump. its jeeps bright idea decided to make that its safty switch to shut the motor down in case of a accident. i have talked to a few people that this has happened to so more than likely that is why it wont start. good luck
