d35 or chrysler 8.25?!?!?!

ok workin on my brand new to me project xj....i have two 87 stock and lifted 88...so i have 4.11 in the d35 in the lifted one but 3.55 in the front d30...was just going to steal the gears out of my parts jeep but its a 8.25.

so which axle is stronger? should i just swap the two?

also will my lift stuff work with the 8.25 axle?

There is no smidge about it, the 8.25 is the stronger of the two by far. Your lift stuff should work, except for the u-bolts for the D35, the 8.25 has larger axle tubes.

if it's a D44 it's got 3.55 gears in it.
match it up to your D30 and rock on.
