1998 TJ, need to chase threads on steering column. Nut won't start back on due to slightly messed up threads on the shaft... I believe the nut is 14mm, but I don't know this for sure, nor do I know the threads..... both of which make it hard to order a die over the Internet.... Anyone know the exact size and thread for the die that I need to purchase?
I plan on doing just this. However, I have found that automobiles sometimes use a fine machine thread that isn't anything the Home Center deals with... this may or may not be one of those situations. I guess I'll find out.
I second the notion to get a thread file... get one SAE and one metric and you'll have them for future use... I don't use mine often but when I do it's saved me many headaches. You can usually save a boogered up pinion or wheel stud with one of these.
thanks guys, I'll try the thread file when I get to that point in my build. I did check the home center and they don't go that large in metric.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
