I just bought a D44 from a 05 Rubicon.

I have a 97 TJ.

My question is will the drive shaft bolt straight to the axle ofr will it be to short or long? Are the drive shaft ends the same on a 97 as a 05 Rubicon?

The dana 44 pinion is about 2in longer then the dana 30 so driveshaft will be too long plus the rubicon uses a 1330 joint while the regular jeep axles use 1310. You can take the 1310 pinion yoke off the d30 and put it on the d44 and then all you will have to do is have your driveshaft shortened.

I've been running conversion joints on mine for what seems like a decade of D44 front on my 1997 TJ.

The front DS will be about 2" too long.

Its also just about the same distance you need to swap in an AW4 from a TF999 :).. So I'm still running my stock front shaft.
