Anyone have Experience with the Red Walls off-road? I'm going to be running them on a SFA 04' Liberty Mostly trail running, some rocks, and They probably will never see much mud. What are the Road Manners like? I heard they whine pretty loud like a turbo sound, is there any truth too that?
Bought a set of 35's just before Memorial day weekend. They balanced extremely well, taking less than 2oz per tire. First thing I noticed was how quiet they were. Cars on regular low profiles were actually louder than these things.
On the trail, they performed very well. I only aired down to 12psi for the weekend, but that was enough for them to get pretty squishy. Would've gone further, but didn't really want to torture them just yet, considering it's my DD. They did very well in the rocks, trails, sand, and dirt. Didn't hit too much mud with them, but they did seem to do well and cleaned out pretty good.
Only complaint with them is the red label. When I bought them, I asked the General rep about them coming off. He said they had addressed it. Well, first day out, I peeled one back a bit. Also, the red gets pretty scratched up. But that's ok, figured I'd run red out for a bit and switch em around latter if they got jacked up.
So, far I like em. Definitely buy another set in the future.
Definitely agree. These look sweet, but that red sticker ain't gonna last long. My reason for buying them was that I needed a tire that was gonna see 90% city and still be able to handle the trails. Sure, other tires out there are capable of this, but I also wanted something a bit different. And the price is damn low.
Like I said before, I really have no major complaints with these so far. They roll down the hwy better than any tire I've had before and did great on the trails.
They were developed for offroad racing competition, so it really depends on what you plan on using them for. For muddy and generally wet trails, they probably would not be the tire of choice. For dryer environments they will probably be sufficient. Being here in TX, with a lot of rocky trails, I probably wouldn't run them unless I got a really good deal on them. There are several other tires better suited for rocky environments.
I like mine so far although I don't have much use on them yet seem to hook up well heres a quick pic
