74 jeep j20 6 inch lift ?'s

i have a 74 j20 and i plan on putting a 6 inch suspension lift on it and was wondering if i need to get longer custom drive shafts

You might want to ask that question over at IFSJA.org. I lifted my '74 Cherokee, 7 1/2" overall and my front driveshaft wouldn't connect to my diff. I might have gotten it to work had I done some grinding on the cv joint. I ended up going with a Tom Woods front shaft. I think alternatives to the problem exist, that's just how I wanted to handle it. Good luck, BTW, my '76 J-20 came to me with I think a 4" lift not sure, but the drive train seems OK.

Yes you will need to extend both front and rear shafts.
