mr willys--so NO AIR at anytime in the coilovers is what you're saying, no matter if it's for a week or so or less, thanks for setting me straight on that--chris

The moisture would also dilute the lubrication. Would this happen fast? Of course not, but you know 10 years from now is right around the corner. Most likely you will be learning how to re-valve, so it is really worth it in the long run.

Well I finally got back into the garage and fabbed up and welded on some cage gussets and did some painting. I also started to clean up, well more like tossing crap out of the way, so that I can pull this thing out to start it. I still have a lot of little stuff to keep knocking out, but that will be going on forever, but some of these little things I just want done before I do start it.
One of my biggest issues is rear bump stops, I just can't satisfy myself on what to do, so I need to just go lay down under the jeep(again) and stare at it(again) and make a decision. I know I mentioned it before that the pcv is blocked off, but I think I'll put it back in, so I need to go buy one and plumb it in. Here's some pics of what I'm dealing with on the rear:

Hey Chris. Matt from West Coast here. Just got to take a look at most of your build thread and it looks really good. Hopefully I'll see you out on the trail when it's done.

Knocking things out slowly but surely over the last week. I finally figured out my rear bump stops and I got started on them and should have 'em done tomorrow. I decided to mount 2 tractor lights to the front bumper(I'll replace them in the future with something better, maybe I'll build my own LED's later). Finished painting the cage. Tidied up some wiring(still got more to do on that, but nothing that won't allow me to start and drive this thing). Ran the air line to the front ARB, but I have a leaking solenoid that I took off my old ARB compressor(it's for a future rear locker), so I'll need to remove it and plug the hole for now. Replaced one of the windshield brackets and bolt. Put the hood latches on. Put the PCV in and what a pain to get the plug out, had to use a slide hammer. The PCV has me confused as there's 2 vacuum ports on it, one big and one small. I'm not sure where the small one goes so I just blocked it off for now. If I need to I'll tee it into the big line. So once I finish the rear bump stops and finish cleaning the garage I can push it outside and see if it will start and run. Maybe tomorrow if I have help pushing it around and if the gas tank doesn't leak!!!! Of course I'll only have rear wheel drive as I don't have a front driveshaft yet, as I need to some figuring out first to see if I need a 2 pc or if a one pc will not cause me issues.

Still tinkering on small things, but I did put about 2 gallons of gas in the tank finally for a "make sure it don't leak test". So far 5hrs and holding. Had a brake line leak, so I think I fixed it, but now I have to bleed the brakes again, which means waiting for a buddy to happen to mosey by or if one of my kids gets home I'll have them run the pedal. Like I said I've been tinkering and damn how does a small space take hold so much crap, I'm still moving stuff around to make way to push ol blue balls outside and attempt to fire it off, but I'm almost there. Work today hasn't helped and I have to work some tomorrow so it's gonna be close to whether count down begins or not. Some pics of rear bump stops, gussets on the front shock hoops and the da flatty.....

Scooterloo--thanks for the kind remarks, but on the cooler it's for the hydro-steering and although I have a PSC log style one the hose routing wasn't making me feel all good inside, so the ugly one won out(even-though I'm not super enamored with it either)--so unless I stretch the hood, which I have no time to do at this point it's gonna have to stay......finally mounted the hi-lift, it's been another thing that's been on my list of I don't know what to do, so on the rear tire mount it goes.

Heimaster 80--thanks---maybe the PSC log cooler is what I should do then and mount it behind the winch like one of my plans--I guess I could route the inlet to the passenger side and the outlet on the driver side--I'll have to at that, never thought about routing the hoses that way--not sure why--
well the garage is cleaned up enough where I can wheel my table outside, then I can push or winch it outside and turn the key and see what happens---still need to bleed the brakes though and hope my brake fitting fix worked and tidy up some wiring, but the brakes are the only thing that need to be done before I yell "CLEAR".....I'm hoping my buddy can come over one evening this week to give me a hand to get this thing started....

PS cooler
Here is what I did on mine, no room anywhere under the hood with sbc and hydro brake booster. Had to mount to the outside of the frame (clear the shock and the tire, leave enough room for the lines!!!!!pull my hair out its hard to find room for all this stuff, HAha love the Willys)
Summit in line cooler, I first plumbed it into the wrong return line and had issues with the brakes dragging. MAKE sure to follow Vanco's directions close.

Heimaster80--ok, so you've had no issues(beside wrong plumbing) with that cooler, that's good to know, as that was a concern of mine also, besides the hose routing. Maybe if I get time I'll remove the TG cooler and put in the PSC log style(looks identical to your's maybe a tad longer) and I'll plumb from orbital to pass side inlet and then driver's side outlet up to the filter/reservoir.--thanks for pic and info.....

IT RUNS, IT RUNS, IT RUNS--it doesn't move though---throttle cable issues, but I hope to have it sorted out tonight---I'm using what I think is a kickdown cable(push vs pull) and since I couldn't be in the jeep pushing on the pedal and see what happened on the other end and really never thinking about it, my system doesn't work. I had to build a bracket and let's just say I couldn't get it on(cuz I have to pull, push, insert, twist all at the same time and I need 8 more arms), so I siliconed some nuts onto parts and let them sit overnight--hopefully I can get it together tonight and make it move!!!!!
Now I need to figure out how to attach a movie of it's first time cranking and starting.

Nope. don't actually quote my post. just hit quote to get the coding. Copy the coding and then do a normal post and change the title and url. It needs to be uploaded to youtube though, not that super long thing you posted. Of course you can always just post the link and people will have to click it to access the outside website.
Coding should look like this except you need to add a ] after the /url. Change the http://www.youtube........ to the url of your video and then change the title (where it says ULTRA SS OFFROAD RACING CHASSIS) to the title of the video you uploaded. [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5FbVJNByMY]ULTRA SS OFFROAD RACING CHASSIS - YouTube[/url

Drove it tonight--oh what a feeling--no front drive shaft so no radical climbing--couple of things, since I'm ford dumb, I didn't like the idle and it died once in awhile when coming to a stop, so I turned it up , jeep ran like crap--turned it down, but I think I need to turn it back down some more, but I had to get it back in the garage before the wife came home and it was getting dark---also forgot which way the fan switch went so it got a little warm, nothing bad but the fan works and cooled it right down--not sure the fan is going to like the radiator, but that's future stuff---might have a bad hose in my steering as it's sweating I think--need to check it out in the daylight, cuz I can't keep it running in the garage---Brakes are ALMIGHTY SWEET---VANCO be the man---steering was no problem, but I may have to do anti-rocks but again I need to get the shocks nitro'd up first---all in all I was a proud puppy----another video to come once it downloads--- here's a pic.....

Congratulations Chris!!!!
That cam seems quite aggressive for a crawler. Also, can you do something with the Rambler parking lights? It's a Willys, not an AMC. Glad to here it moves though.

mr willys--cam is a ''E'' cam(I edited this as originally I stated it was a "B" cam, but it's not) --been so long now that I can hardly remember what I did to the motor---anyway that's one reason I turned the idle up as I think it's to low, thus exaggerating the cam. But that, may have monkeyed with the computer by adjusting the idle, will turn it back down to where it was and see if it returns to running better---any throttle at all right now and it runs like it's missing on 3-4 cylinders--- Also I'm not sure 24lb MAF, 24lb injectors and computer are liking each other, but as long as it runs decent enough I can deal with that later----
tail lights are the LED ones so they're staying--willys and ramblers--American tradition, right?? some of my guages aren't working, but not surprising there as there's about 1.6 million wires back there, but again that can be dealt with later... another round of test driving tonight--yee haw edit: CAM is an E303 cam forgot to make this edit awhile back
