Dana 25 broken axle

I broke the passenger side axle in my dana 25. I have a dana 27 out of a 65 scout. Will these axles interchange?

Should be 10 spline inner/outer on the CJ... Pull the scout one out and look. I think a 65 is wider track. I'd compare them side by side.

thanks for the input. If anyone in the Fresno/Oakhurst area has a short side axle or the whole assembly pm and we will see if we can make a deal.

No it is the closed nuckle style and uses big ball bearings(not sure what the correct term is for this style).

dana 25

I have a dana 27 that will work in San Luis Obispo, ca. I liked the ujoint 27 axles much better than the berfields that were in the 25. I have a ton of other parts too.

How much are you looking to get for your 27? Will my 5.38 work in a 27?

The axle shafts will fit but the gears will not. That might be the gears that it has because it came out of a cj 5 but I would have to check. 80 dollars and you can have it

Not sure what your Dana is in but I have a complete Dana 25 minus hubs out of a Wagon. PM me if that will work for you.

All dana 25's were closed knuckle, it doesn't matter if you use bendix, rzeppa, or spicer style joints. Sounds like you had a bendix axle shaft

I ran a 27 in mine, but went back to a 25 when I blew up the 5.38's (Impossible to find for a Dana 27, well, not impossible, but pricey... I have a set of 5.38's in the garage for a 27) The 25 has a bigger ring gear than a 27. All parts were interchangeable except the R&P....

If you have a CJ, now's a good time though to find a narrow track Dana 30 from a pre 82 CJ... Only 2 inches wider than a Dana 25, most come with discs and 5.38's can be had for them. You'll have to space the rear axle though. YMMV.

My long term plan is ro put waggy 44's under the jeep. I have the rear axle bit saving up for the front. Dont want to put too much into an axle im going to get replace soon.
