Hey everyone, this will be the documentation of my build for my newly acquired (about 3weeks ago) flatty. I acquired this toy with a random text from my Dad who knows I love projects and have always wanted a flatty- my first vehicle was a 1987 YJ that I started building with my dad when I was 13- well anyways, my dad texted me a picture of the flatty his friend from Wisconsin (I'm from Ohio) and told me it was forsale- it was beautiful and cool but I definitely didn't believe I had the money for it nor really the space in the garage for it (I'm a motorcycle junky) but a few texts later and I had the guys phone number and hesitatingly called him as I know JEEP stands for Just Empty Every Pocket... He told me an offer I couldn't refuse and was even willing to hold it til spring for me as I needed time to make room and sell some bike stuff.
Well the weekend finally came to do the roadtrip to Wisconsin, and when we finally arrived at the guys house, being a friend of my dads he invited my dad and I in for a beer before going to check out the Willys- laughingly I said thanks but no thanks as I'm not a beer drinker, but I do like whiskey! And as he poured the glass of whiskey, so became the name "Whiskey Willys" for this Flatty build!
This build will happen in a few stages due to space/time/money restraints... End result though will be a mild mannered/off road capable flatty with the looks of a ratrod incorporating in "cool trick looking" parts. From the outside it looks to be in stellar condition but underneath and upclose the looks are quickly less than good- so I don't feel I will ruffle too many feathers with not restoring it.
---Currently the Flatty is/has--
-1947 Willys-Overland... At least that's what the title says, looking at the frame and body shows a few different things.
-32x11.50x15 tires on aftermarket wheels I believe
-BDS lift kit (not sure how much or for sure that it's BDS but I think it is haha)
-Buick 225 odd fire (gotta double check it isn't a 231)
-Warn overdrive
-Warn 8247 winch
-fiberglass hood and fenders
- 11" drum breaks (for sure in the front I don't remember about the rear)
-Power steering equipped
-In major need of some TLC to even be streetable
So here is the Flatty as I saw it in the guy's garage

Stripped and loaded up on the trailer!

My dad and I hauling it back from Wisconsin
I will probably get this picture framed and give it to him on his birthday, see if I can't make the old guy get teary eyed haha

In my garage getting a proper go-over figuring out what all needs done so I can at least drive it on the road

Zeh Whiskey Willys!

And just a random table I "built" for in the garage, hopefully I don't break it- I'm not very good with "nice things" lol

Annnd made a little stencil at work
