Thank you
I told Phil my welds need to match his bending, anything less than perfect would be an insult to his work...Some of the fit ups he got on that thing.... Whoa, can't sneak a piece of paper in there. Now I have body work to do before I finish weld it

I know the cage is just tacked in right now, but have you driven it like this?

with flatty's being so lightweight, i'm kind of curious how much of a change adding a cage like that will make to the handling.

man... if i had the cash and was local, i'd drive mine over and have an identical cage installed!

looking forward to some welding porn!

My guess is the change would be similar to adding the available hard tops of the day my aluminum one did make it slightly more tippy, but it isn't bad or super noticeable.

Lol, you'll have to go to Palm Springs, CA for it....
I haven't driven it yet, I still need to bend up a little more tube for seat mounts and harness mounts. I'd imagine it'll actually handle better once I tie it in the frame, strengthen it all up

Brother, your jeep looks killer! I wish I could have made it out there this year. You think you'll make it to MOAB for Easter Jeep Safari?

that is seriously awesome. our family is tentatively planning to go to KOH next year assuming we can get a tow pig sorted out. would be awfully rad to have a couple of flatty's in attendance!

Thanks Mike!! I probably won't make it to Moab, if I go anywhere else this year it'll be Howiepalooza, Texana or Crandon. Sorry I didn't answer your call the other day, was like 545a here when you called! lol

Oh there were a few more than a couple in attendance, haha. Dress for all seasons if you go!

Love the 5 slotters. I looked back through to see if you had the specs on them but the early pictures are all gone. Did you get these new and what are they if so please?

The Aluminum Slots look great and give the Willys a very period correct look!

Sammy, are those 34x9.5's? They look wider, I must have missed it. Also, what brand seats are you running because I missed that too. I am looking to upgrade, my back can't take what I have anymore.

I got them used actually, they should be from a 79 CJ7, factory. I'm not up on the "what year Jeep had this certain part" but IIRC they were 79. They clear factory Dana 30 discs too
Most of the pics were hot linked from Facebook, some day I'll figure out a place to upload all important build pics

They're 32x9.5's, I'd love to have 34's but I have other stuff to spend money on right now. They look wider because the aluminum wheels are 15x7, they looked pretty skinny on steelies

The seats are Empi race trim low backs with head rests, a lot more comfortable than stock, and for the price I couldn't pass them up. Granted Mastercrafts and the like are more comfy, but for the price...

They were renegades, but later. The centers where the bolt holes are look different from earlier renegade wheels, but I'm no expert...There was a write up on them on ECJ5 at one point IIRC

Cool pic from KOH, at least, I think so....

Bent some tube yesterday for seat mounts

Gonna bend up some more tomorrow, start the tube fenders and tie ins for the frame. Can't really do much of anything else, my Tig welder is in the shop, and I really need it to
1) Fix the body
2) weld up the cage
3) Weld up the fuel tank

Been slowly welding away on it...

Don't have an extra set of hands to hold up a bar and dont' want to use a magnet because you need to tack where the magnet goes? Use a beer can and crush it to the right dimension

Took a little walk...

Then it all kind of fell apart....

Lol, me too... The manager at the welding store loves me when I bring in my bottle with this much left, because he has to put it on the vacuum pump for an hour to make sure it's not dirty inside

The oh shit handles use ATV grips, but they're made for 7/8" tube... Found 7/8" DOM, but wanted it to be removable on the passenger side so the passenger could still get in... Just machined the tube it slides into last night from solid round bar (what I had) You'll see what I'm talking about soon...

Got all the body work done

And painted the things that should be tan, tan.

Need to find bed liner today, thinking U pol Raptor, once that's done I can get the seat mounts finished up on the cage.
