There's 3 plates on the dash, or glove box (if it came with one). The middle plate will have the serial number. Also, the drivers side front frame rail near the front bumper. The body has a stamp on the gusset in the passenger floor area.

I had a problem with the vin number on the MB I got from "Cheeks". The vin number on the MB body did not match the vin on the paperwork- and I had to have the vin verified since it was out of the system. Gotta admit I was pissed at first.
I did some digging and found out that alot of Ca. DMV's used the engine number instead of the body or frame number. During the war effort the engines were pulled from the line for generators, welders, lights, etc. so none of the engine numbers matched in the jeeps. I showed all of my research to the cop & he was cool with it and signed off on the paperwork. |

Kind of the boat I am in. The data plate on the glove box is destroyed. The frame is a custom 2x4 by a previous owner. I can tell that it is a late '44 or '45 MB with a 2a grill.
