4 door Willys wagons

So searching around, I found this link:

http://www.willyscountry.com/4_dr_Willys.html

Anyone actually own a true 4 door wagon? I would love to get one and make a moderate wheeler out of it for the family, or not considering how rare they are.

Man, they look so sweeeet!!

Rare indeed. One would think (with my nonexistant bodyworking knowledge) that it would be not too difficult to add another pair of doors inbetween the pillars on a stock WW body.....

I am pretty sure that is what Willys did, just slightly modified the two door body panel. Don't know though since I have never seen an actual one in person.

I have a couple extra cabs, been toying with the idea of setting up rear suicide doors for a while now. I have seen one 4 door in person, it was an unrestored one built for the railroad.

If I know my history right there were only 12 of them built for the railroad and I think they are all accounted for with good loving homes. You'll have to build your own if you want one.

Willys never actually built them it was done post production by a company who's name eludes me currently.

Yup what Jeff said, all for the RR and yeah Pauls not likely to let go of most of the collection especially the rare stuff.

Now on the ultra rarity note I've seen the Mitsubishi/Willys colabo made back in the day in both 2 and 4 door versions. The 4 door was in fantastic shape and I almost felt like I needed it. Isn't that an odd feeling, needing something that until a few moments earlier you had no clue existed.

These four door wagons were built by Fairmont. They were "high railers", which had small RR wheels front and rear, which allowed them to stay on the RR tracks. These vehicles are powered by the normal rubber tires riding on the track. I've only seen the one at Willy America in person. I've seen a photo of a Forward Control Jeep trucks built as a high railer. A friend of mine is building a four door wagon on a late model chassis, stretched with four full sized doors. The rear will be a suicide door.

I had to miss the Willys America Open House today, with a broken intake manifold.

I especially like the cruise with 40+ other Willys up Hwy 101, across the Golden Gate Bridge, and up through Sebastapol to Cazadero.

Does anyone have any good photos to share of the Willys America Open House, 2011?

2dr Rural:

4dr:

Not many in the USA, but another 3/4dr Willys Wagon to keep an eye out for.

edit,
didn't realize the 2nd pic was from the same site the original poster linked.
Tough to find any pics at all of these.

These are all at Willys America. I would imagine that everything has a price tag, but some of this stuff is so rare that the price tag might be really, really high. Their business is parts and in house restorations to the customers specs.

Super nice folks, ordered a couple of small things from them back in the early 90's and have always wanted to go visit on their open house day.

Wasn't sure if anybody was reading...I have a bunch more pics if anybody wants to see them.
