It really depends upon what you are trying to do.

I'm building one for daily driving and trail-riding. Only some mild crawling planned for it. I am trying to shoot for a WMS of around 57-59" on the front of my CJ2A Chevy Dana 44. Goal is to use off the shelf inner axle shafts and keep it as narrow as possible without sacrificing steering & maintaining sway-bar & coil-over clearance. I chose the width based off of a target wide-trac CJ & Early Bronco width.

For mine, I opted for stock width Scout II axles, they seem to look somewhat proportionate to a flat fender. 58"

My 2c.

as wide as you can go and still fit between the trees, rocks, small ocean mammals, cars, etc...

Waggy width works well, NT.

Toyota solid axles work well too, but I don't want to get ran out of here.......

Agree with this guy...Waggy's under mine, seen one with Yota axles and they looked good too. Remember both the waggy's and yota are 6 bolt and Scout are 5 bolt like a CJ if that matters to you.

I like the fit of the Yotas better as far as width goes. I am currently driving a Jeep with NT Wagoneers and they are a bit wide for my liking. It does turn good and it is stable fwiw but overall they are just a hint wide. I suppose if you want to run a 12.5 tire on an 8" rim they would be great though.
