Im gonna say Yucca Valley would be your best bet, Lucerne has a place or two, but I think you will find more accomidations in Yucca Valley.

Thats what we did this time last year over there. We rented 2 of them. The drive back to Yucca or Lucerne is a real PITA if you dont stay on the lakebed.
