Regarding the FOJV.org website
ATTN: Dave or anyone else that may have more info for me.
I'm working with Scott to build the website - I have a temp home page built that can sit where the current FOJV.org page currently sits (while the full site is built). However, I'd like to update it with FOJV's mission statement and a brief description if possible so there is a little information there instead of just a pretty picture. Is this info still in the works or can someone provide me with that? Thanks, hope everything is going smoothly as far as FOJV is concerned... Summary: 1) Mission Statement 2) Brief description or paragraph to describe what's going on for people? 3) I am planning on putting a "Coming Soon" on there somewhere so people know a deeper site is coming...

The mission is to not lose one grain of sand.
But I haven't figured out how to word that yet. Gimmee a day. I'm running right now but will be around tomorrow. Dave

Great! I think it's very important for someone who doesn't even have a clue what Johnson Valley even is to be able to read a mission statement and have a general idea (or at least interest to know more) of who FOJV is and what they're doing. Hopefully reading that mission statement would be followed by interest, leading them to some body-text down below to further inform them. Thanks, look forward to hearing back. You will need to submit it prior to being allowed onto the Rockgarden grounds!
(Just save the Hammers, to hell with the rest of the place!) ![]() I'd bet that would go over well with the other user groups....

You will NEVER hear me say or act on that. 'Not one grain of sand lost..." is the motto I'm working by. There is no room for anything less.

No rush just get to it whenever you can. We can always revise it as well later... Just wanted to post up a reminder publicly so that maybe someone else would have the opportunity to volunteer. Any copywriters in the house?

I think that'd be a good idea to see what people think/suggest. It would be much better though, in my opinion, if there was a couple options or a basic statement to start with though. As far as the mission statement itself is concerned, I'm under the impression that someone who has no idea what the hammers are, what rock crawling is, who FOJV is, etc. should be able to read it and feel like they know the basics of who FOJV is and what the goal is... Worth spending a little time on and getting the opinions of the group...

What about something like:
"Working together to preserve Johnson Valley as a multiple-use area for generations to come" This is what the Partnership group uses: Our Mission is to unite the many people who enjoy the diverse activities available in the multiple-access area of Johnson Valley. Our charter is to promote responsible recreation and the use of desert resources through conservation and education. The goal of the Partnership is to ensure public open access to the area in the present, and for the future generations who Live, Work, and Recreate in Johnson Valley. And Friends of Giant Rock say this: Friends Of Giant Rock (FOGR) is a non-profit organization formed to address issues of concern to off-roaders, Keep riding areas open, promote responsible OHV use, help keep our desert clean, define and address unreasonable parts of San Bernardino County Ordinance 3973, enjoy the desert and have fun.
