I live in Murrieta too. I'll be at on the Lakebed Saturday morning.

Here's one way (staying on the freeways):

1. Merge onto I-215 N via the ramp to Riverside 28.9 mi
2. Take the State Hwy 60 E exit toward BEAUMONT/INDIO 0.5 mi
3. Merge onto CA-60 E/Moreno Valley Fwy 17.5 mi
4. Take the ramp onto I-10 E 22.5 mi
5. Take exit 117 for State Hwy 62 toward Yucca Valley/Twentynine Palms 1.0 mi
6. Merge onto CA-62 20.8 mi
7. Turn left at CA-247/Joshua Ln/Old Woman Springs Rd
Continue to follow CA-247/Old Woman Springs Rd 20.2 mi
8. Turn right at Boone Rd 2.6 mi
9. Turn right to stay on Boone Rd 1.3 mi

Here's the way I normally go:

1. Head east on Murrieta Hot Springs Rd toward Alta Murrieta Dr 2.4 mi
2. Turn left at CA-79/Winchester Rd 14.1 mi
3. Turn right at CA-74/CA-79/W Florida Ave/Pinacate Rd
Continue to follow CA-74/CA-79/W Florida Ave 4.1 mi

5. Continue on CA-79/Lambs Canyon Rd
Continue to follow CA-79 5.8 mi
6. CA-79 turns slightly left and becomes Beaumont Ave 0.2 mi
