If that centre bearing is anything like the ones I used over here, I'd be packing a few spares. The casting on them is ordinary at best. When they break open they look like an Aero Bar inside. After busting 3 of them I had one machined from a block of solid.

Build looks great. What uni size did you get from Woody? I'm going to use a driveshaft from a TF727 on mine for clearance. Only about 30mm diameter.

Forged. I had to use 1310 joints. Only strength compromise I have made on this build. Hope it doesn't bite me. The 5.38 gears will help.

Sweet build. I just stumbled across the rover forum looking for inspiration for my jeep ( can I mention jeep over here? )

I guess being an expat I can get away lurking in this forum...

I have a few quick questions about this build....
1) the "cage" which supports. The trans and cases.... I'm assuming it will be skidded over? What kind of wheelbase & ground clerance (& tire size ) are you running on this set up? I like the idea, it's much cleaner than trying to build cross members and then skid plates....

2) am I misunderstood, or is the driveline backwards? judging by the seats, it looks that way to me..... Is it " fixed" by runng the axles different?

3) I see this is in response to someone in texas:

Fwiw, they don't get Aero bars here.... But they are very porous.

Great build.
Thanks for sharing, and I hope my questions aren't too noob.
(I actually saw a thread about a 90 which drew me to this forum)

No, but I have one left that I will sell you. I made three. But the adapter is only one of three custom parts. I can help you get all three pieces, but be prepared to spend some cash to get it all to work. Pm me and we can talk.

For TDi Disco, your adapter:

LT230 Impute gears EDM-ed to Chevy 32 spline and custom output all snugged up.

I'll ship it next week monday.

Just to finish up this saga. The t-case is all in and has been driven on. Car is done but I can't show anything yet. But thought I would show the final resting place of the t-case. It will be fun to see if this case is as good as I think it is.

T-case has two mounts. Case breather is in the only location that it fit. I will need to put a loop in there.

I ended up using an atlas t-case shifter. It works well, once I figured out what does what.

Best pic of the linkage I could grab. The skids make seeing the other one impossible.

Cheers guys. Thanks for all the help. PT: send me your address and I'll send the shifter back. Thanks!

thank you.. i know what im doing tomorrow.. taking my rig and all my parts to scrap and finding a new hobby ! i knew the stuff i build is ugly but i'd be embarrassed if my rig was parked by your beautiful work of art.

thinking of running a lt230 behind my lexus 1uzfe.. to cut down some length out of my drive train( dual yota cases and yota 5 speed tranny =long as shit)

Thanks a lot for the kind words!

This build was rough. We did it in 6 months. Thats about 6 years shorter than my last build.

I love weekend wheelers and don't care about looks. Some of the stuff on this car does nothing other than look good, and that doesn't accomplish anything important! As to the LT, I hope that it works well. I built the whole car around it. If it does deal with 500hp, I may experiment with the high gearing. 1.4 may be kinda cool. It will be very fun to play with!

Buggy PORN right there.

Nice work as always, Dave. How do you find the Treps compared to the Creepies? I just sold my 40" Treps to get 43" SXs. I'm hoping they're as good as the reports.

Yes!! I put a 3/8 vent in front and rear. I have to overfill the diffs slightly so it needs to breath!

Thanks you guys for the complements. Wait till you see it from the side. The thing moves!
