What makes the discoveries depreciate so much?
I've been wondering. Cause brand new, they're like 45 grand, but then you can get like a '93 for 5K. Why is that?

early discos had problems, and also they are now high mileage. there were also a lot of them imported, and i think the soccer moms that bought them new in 94 or 95 are more than ready to "trade up" to some POS minivan in disguise (read cute-ute)

No 93 discos came to the US. Only 94 and up.
Its kinda like rolls royce, no one who buys a rolls royce would buy a used car. Same thing with LRs. Everyone is afraid to buy one because of finding someone to work on it or parts prices or whatever. In reality it is not a problem at all. Ron

cheap Rovers?...I got my '99 Disco II from Land Rover Dallas and paid 32K, but it was a 'certified' used one and they changed a few things like the head gasket because there were some problems on some other Rovers. And it came with a warranty, too. Very important to me when I looked into repair cost

All "high end", "maintenance issue" vehicles are the same way. The wife and I are looking into a used Audi A6...Damn...1999's with 45k miles can be had for under 20K...That's a 25K hit in two years! Jag's, LR's the same...Any vehicle with a "maintenance issue" history take the biggest hit's. Mercedes, Lexus and BMW don't share the same depreciation curves, but they're not as stable as a Honda!
