Hi Gali,
We don't have Volvo C303s in Israel but Jordan is full of them, if you're up to such a project. Another very strong axle is the 404 Unimog axle, and quite a few of them exist in the army's fire zones. Good luck, Erez

Yeah,
Volvo portals are NO WHERE TO BE FOUND in the Middle East...I've searched in KSA, UAE, Lebanon, Syria and so forth to no avail. 3 weeks ago I got across a BUNCH of U1300 Mog axles in the box (air actuated) albiet with drum brakes. They were selling them for somethinglike 1,200$ a pair. Needless to say, I sold my 404 axles for 600$ and got me 2 steering ones. We did a group buy and some dude still has a 3-4 sets if you're interested... ![]() Now all I need to know is what engine/gearbox/transfer case my buggy should sport...

Discodino, although we are not so far geographically it will be impossible for us to send something to each other in a few years from now. Thanks
Erez, Unimog 404 axels will need to be fit to the Defender? Or can be replaced with no prob?

Volvo's in a Defender
Volvo axle conversion on a 110 is not a good idea. It can and has been done and it is not Herculean in scope, but it leaves you with a very high center of gravity and a pretty skittish vehicle. Much better on a Series where the track of the Volvos is slightly wider than the original Rover axles. On a Series, they bold pretty much straight in and in may require only slight shortening of the front propshaft - some people seem to have gotten away without even doing that.
Erez - if you can access a stockpile in Jordan, you can make a few $$$ and a few people happy. The high ratio (5.??) ones are VERY scarce on the ground in Malaysia now and the low ratio (7.??) while excellent, deliver a top speed of 60kph on a Series with 33" tyres - not very practical.
