Salisbury=
I pulled it from a Ford Van. I have pics in the camera and will be doing a how to tech page, perhaps for the tech section here on POR. It's going to be a 4:10 ARB 1.5"/35 spline, SF, 5x6.5" with Rover brakes and ABS sensors. I look to be able to pull it off for ~1300!

I have to ask...Why a 60 rear? Your still left with 1.2" dia front axles and Berfields. SG's Summer Bro's 30 spliners have a lifetime guarantee on them, and I have yet to hear of a GBR R&P letting go. Total cost for the build up would be a hair under the 60. $700 for the axles and machining of the spindles...$514 for the 30 spline ARB...And approx. $335 for the R&P. AND you can sell the existing stuff you have. Total O.P. is around $1600, and you have a good clearanced and disked rear.

Why the 60 rear? I'm building it with a SF axle that has 5x5.5" lug pattern. I will use adapters to get to 5x6.5. A front 44 is in the works.
When I put a front 60 in the scout I will move the 44 to the rover and remove the adapters and have 5x5.5 wheels on the rover! You say I can build my rover axle beefy for a little cheaper than my 60? It looks like more! Your at 1500 and I'm at 1300 and much beefier! and will still be able to sell my old junk.

Okay...I didn't know you were going with a 44 front. Good deal then! How about the width (WMS) on the 60? I thought the Ford vans were full width?

Yea it's full width. I'm cutting off the Full Float spindles and welding on Set 20 Semi Float bearing ends.

Old Scout,
You'll have to let me know how that turns out. I'm thinking I'll take what you learn and what Doug learns and apply them to my D90 and D110. And you should talk to Gearman Sean about the Salisbury. He set up mine a little while ago in my D110 and told me that he thinks the Salisbury is actually stronger than a Dana 60 because they eliminated a problem weakness in the pinion. So... maybe that salisbury axle ain't so funny afterall! And of course, keeping the offset diff makes driveline issues a whole lot easier to deal with. Just a thought though... -John

![]() Anyway, I gotta see this stuff when you get it running. I'm curious, is the 60 going to clear your fuel tank? I ran into this problem when thinking about swapping in a Salisbury on my D90. I'm actually thinking about doing a new fuel tank in the load bed to give me more room underneath to stuff big axles and do funky stuff with the suspension. Or maybe I can do a couple small fuel tanks tucked up underneath to keep the CG low. Still a work in progress. Oh yeah, and I can't wait to try and break it at the CC!!! I'm bringing my 35" tires too just in case these 37s are being a PITA... -John

I paid $200 for my 110 salisbury. Including all the lug nuts two trailing arms and the a frame
![]() Stock salisbury's are 4 pinion where as D60s are two pinion, is that what you mean John or are you talking about the actual pinion? Oldscout, you have gone this far, why not put in a D60 front and show us how it is done. Ron
