The :rainbow: topic ever
What lights should I put on my rover?
I am thinking euro spec clear front running lights, 95 D90 reverse lamps as front indicators with orange bulbs (and don't give me any rice burner crap in 64 it came with clear indicators with orange bulbs), clear front side indicators from a 2000+ NBS rangie none in back, euro D90 rear indicators but in red and euro d90 brake lights. yes it is a flamingly topic but my head hurts from thinking about the R380 and I have to make up my mind to finish the bodyworkRon

I personally hate the larger turn signal lights in the front.
On my D90 I have the clear running lights and the same size(it's a 94) in orange turn signal lights. So basically I say euro front and rear. I'm not sure about the clear side marker as they seem to modern for your series bodied 110. |

Thanks for not flaming me.
That would be my preference as well but the smaller ones look weird on SIII fenders as the hole for the 4in is offset. So I have to run something 4in and I don't feel like putting my unobtainium SIII NADA 4in ambers back on where I will break them can you think of other options? You think on the side markers? I was hoping that because they are so small that they would be basically unnoticeable. I already have a hole in the fender from the SIII ones (rusted out) or I would run without them as a 64 does not legally need them. Damn, I have given this too much thought I deserve to be flamedRon

Ron,
You should check out the side marker lights that RDS has. They are about 3 inches long, and 3/4 inch tall, rectangular-ish, yellow, and were stock on my '83 127. I ordered a bunch from RDS, 2 for the 145, 2 for the 80 inch, and 2 for the RR. They were inexpensive, look kind of cool, and, well, LOTS cheaper than any other side lights. I have 2 brake/turn signal lights I'll sell you complete w/bulbs if you need them. I was going to run all red brake/turn lights on the trailer, butnow I'm going to run amber turn signals, so I have 2 extra brake lights (the small ones). M |

I'll reply, but deny that I ever went near this thread
Over here in some circles, guys put on the larger NAS lights (turn signals, brake lights and front side lights) as they are larger and much safer as other folk can see you and get the heck out of your way. It's concidered an upgrade! Just my .02 c worth. (That's 2 euro cent btw!)

I'll have to chime in here about the lights. The previous owner of my D90 put military lights across the back and left the stock lights up front. I much prefer dealing with the sealed, screw-on lenses of the military lights as compared to the leaky stock lights up front. BTW, these front lights seem to let water in, but not out so they look like fishbowls.
Anyway.. Yes, they're expensive, but I think the military lights are worth it! And for headlights, check out the plastic Trucklites that GCR is selling. I just put a pair on my D90 after cracking yet another pair of euro-spec lights in a water crossing and they work very well. Also, I've always had trouble with my lights getting mud into them through the vent hole and the gore-tex cover on these new lights completely eliminates that problem! -John

Thanks for the flame fear factor
Ok I have made up my mind. Basically what I said above but with freelander clear side markers instead of the rr ones. They are the same as on the newest 110s but clear. My rear lights are in the higher series location so i am less woried about water ingress than I am about being an idiot and backing into crap and costing me $$$ for new military lights ![]() Ron

yup, the lights on my 110 are in the higher location too.. Don't forget there is such thing as rain and road splash. That's primarily how the water gets into my lights. Usually, after a good water crossing where the lights were submerged, I'll drain them, but it's annoying when the rain fills them up.

we will see.
I already went ahead and got the reverse lights, but the freelander side lights are back ordered. Guess to many disco II owners want the bling bling look. i think I am going to silicone them shut too so that should help. Can't bring myself to spend $125 PER LIGHT when I can get the NAS D90 stlye ones for 1/10 of that. Ron
