Rancho shocks?
For those of you running 3link kits, do you reckon, in your expert opinions, that the rancho 9008 would be too long for fitting with the kit?
they are an eye-eye fitting (stronger than the pin IMO) and have a 24" extended length, and compressed is an inch shorter than the 9014 (forget the figure) i'm about to get some ordered, so would like your inputs pleeeease! I'm going to have longer springs made up, probably about the 20-22" compressed length, and am not worried about having to retain them or install drop out guides should i end up with mega-axle travel! cheers guys Jamie jamie.austin@austingroup.co.uk www.landie.co.uk |

Is anything keeping you from running some external mounts up there Jamie? The only issue I had with the Tdi was getting a new charge air hose made to go around the mount. I had to get it made so that it went low, under the alternator. Other than that it was easy it doesn't come very close to the fuel filter on the other side. I'm really glad I did it, makes front suspension mods much easier.
Where is your power steering reservoir? On these left hand drive 300s the shock mount comes close to the bottom of the reservoir so that some manipulation of the hoses was necessary. Maybe you should remove a front shock and cycle the suspension and see how far it will drop and measure the distance from top shock mount to bottom shock mount and get an idea that way? |

Currently i'm running single shocks (9014's) in the stock position. but i've just ordered some MJ Lee twin mounts (one in stock position and the other mounted forward of the spring).
I'll see how it cycles with the twin setup, i may well end up removing the stock positioned shock if it fouls anything. As i;m running 35" tyres, i;ve got extended bump stops, so the axle doesn;t travel up as far as stock, therefore i don;t really need the really tall shock mount and don;t have to cut the inside of the wheelarch away. BTW... i was corrected, it;s 9012's i want, not 9008's!! Jamie |
