Series salisbury carrier

Does anyone know if it is interchangable with the 110 carrier (ie to go to 4.7s in a 110 rear do I need the carrier too or just the R&P)?

My understanding is that the detroit will bolt into it, correct?

Anyone have one lying around they want to sell or know where I can get one reasonably? Or better yet trade for 3.54s?

For the front I am running series gears (I know I know) If (when ) they go boom am I better with the GBR 4.75 or the ashcroft 4.7 gears? I "hear" it is ok to run a little steeper in the front as long as you are within 1% and I feel the new GBR gears will be stronger than the ashcrofts. what do you think?

Ron

Yes they are, direct replacement.

both the carrier and the CW&P will swap over.

i've got a spare of both here in the UK should you have any trouble getting one stateside.

Cool beans.

So it looks like I just need the CW&P. I will let you know if I can't find one here. You need any US parts?

Cheers Jamie

Ron

PS while I am bugging you any chance you could measure the location of the side lights on the TD5. I need to know how far back they are from the front of the fender (maybe use the seam as a starting point?) I got some clear freelander side lights I want to install (same as TD5 only clear). Thanks again!

no problem Ron,

i'll take a picture of it. when you say 'sidelight' you mean the indicator (sorry....turn light) mounted on the outside of the wing (sorry...fender!) above the front wheel?

PS...what's your private e.mail address for the parts scans? it won't be for an hour or 2, i;ve got to nip home and get my bible...err... parts book!

Ron, I've got a Salisbury carrier out of my D110 that had the stock 3.54 gears on it.

Interestingly enough, I also have a set of 4.7 series gears that should fit that carrier if you're interested. They were on an ARB in the Salisbury when I got the truck. Find out if they're compatible and I can sell you the whole lot. I also have a 4.7 rover size R&P that came out of the front. They're not in perfect condition, but make an offer and I'll see what I can do.

And to make it more interesting, I'm flying out to Maryland on March 8-9 to meet up with Michelle and move her stuff out to Cali so theoretically, I could put this stuff in my luggage and bring it to you. Only problem is that we're severly limited in time on that end so you'll have to meet us somewhere to pick it up.

I'll try to dig up the parts and take some pictures over the weekend and post them.

What do you think?

-John

I believe you are correct in your assumption that the GBR 4.75s are stronger than Ashcroft as Bill is now making the 4.75s reverse rotation. The 4.1 reverse rotation fronts are supposed to be ~30% stronger so I would assume the 4.75s gain some percentage in strength as well. You also gain strength with GBRs over series gears because you don't use spacers like the old KAMs.

Jamie

If you click the box below my name you get my email.

Thanks for the help! Yes, the one on the side. I know where it goes (generally) but a measurement would make sure it went in the exact right space.

John,

Definately interested in the 4.7 R@P, I don't need the carrier as I have one allready. I have sent you a PM.
Jonathan,

Thanks for the input. Hopefully my series gears will hold, if not I am calling GBR.

Ron

PS let hope the wankers don't find this board. Otherwise I would get comments like 4.7s are way to steep, even if you are running huge 33in tires it will suck on the highway.
