ENV axle tech
The great one has got me thinking about other axle choices. He has said that it is possible to fit a corp 14 bolt carrier/locker to one of these, and I happen to know where a set of two can be had for less than 500.
Anyone care to help with tech, BTDT etc.? Ron edit: Here is a quote from a 101 FC history page that I think summarizes why I am asking "which put less strain on the rear axle and therefore allowed the heavy-duty ENV rear axle to be replaced by a lightweight Salisbury unit." A salisbury out of a 101 has 1/2in axle tubes and is the size of a dana 60!

Those ENV axles are rarer than hens teeth now, they were only fitted to the series 2 109" and some of the 1 ton 109" forward controls.
they switched to the salisbury on the series3 109's after that. are the salisbury's stronger? or were they just cheaper? Jamie |

Email Doug M if you want a Salisbury. He has a low rust Salisbury in great shape sitting at his house that he will let go for a fair but good price. If you want to keep a 5 on 6.5 lug pattern this would be a great choice. Way better than modifying your current set-up.
FYI I know a few years ago that ARB did not offer an Air Locker for the 14-bolt or the Dana 70. I know htat they now offer one for the 70, but I am not sure about the 14. May factor in for you, may not. Way |

would be interesting to see if it was possible to machine/weld/glue/bodge the stub axle (spindle
) off of a salisbury onto a D70/60/whatever, so that way you could keep the full floating bearings AND the stock rover wheels.for those of you who have any drum braked 110 rear salisbury's, watch this space....i'm working on a conversion to disc brakes, which <should> be pretty straightforward, off the shelf parts with minimal cost.... hopefully..... I already have a salisbury for the 110.
The series was looking neglected and I thought about swapping in some ENVs. I already have located a set. I would like some info before I do the swap. Ron

IF you guys want some 101FC axles I have a set. Front and rear for sale.
I also have an ARB locker with custom side gears that will fit the 101FC axle (front or rear, your choice). Axles come as a pair ONLY, locker can be installed for a nominal fee (Cooper does the installation). Later, Michael PS They were supposed to be for Marbourg, but I snaked them out from under him! Too bad my project got cancelled and now I have to sell 'em.

Well Doug, I'm glad you're not miffed at me for getting those axles and they bagging the whole project. I'm pretty bummed about it, but hey, tha'ts life eh???
Anyway, I was selling the pair for $2600 and the locker for $1000 (the side gears alone were $450). Buy the whole she-bang for $3500 and I'll have the locker installed FOR FREE!!! BUT WAIT! THAT'S NOT ALL! With your order of 101FC axles w/ARB locker combo, you'll recieve ABSOLUTELY FREE something really cool that you'll really want, that only I'll be able to provide. Maybe I'll toss in a 9000i, or an 8274! God only knows how crazy I'll get as time goes by. I have an extra 101FC water pump that I'll also throw in! Ice wheels??? We've got a dozen ready to give away! $G diff protectors??? You want 'em? We DONT! Two pair FREE to the first solid offer. I'm getting ready to move this July, and as the date approaches, more crazy-ass sh** will have to move!!!! CALL NOW CALL NOW CALL NOW CALL NOW CALL NOW M |

For 2600 they better be gold plated! Craddocks was basically giving them away a while back.
WTF is an ICE wheel? Ron

No, for 2600 there HERE and I OWN them. You don't have to F around with getting them here and wondering what they're going to be like when you get them.
These are factory rebuild units from the military and EVERY SINGLE PART INSIDE THEM ARE NEW. No biggie. If you want to get them from Craddocks, it's not going to hurt my feelings at all. I took a gamble buying these, they turned out to be better than what I thought they were going to be, but alas, now I can't use them. I was so amped I went ahead and bought an ARB and had the side gears hogged out and resplined for it. Oh well. For an additional $5K I'll gold plate them. Bill: They won't bolt into a coiler. You'll have to make spring perches for them and weld them onto the axle. The spring track width is quite wide, but the pads might make a great spot to build perches on. I have pics, but can take more if you want to see them. Later, Michael |

WTF is an ice wheel you ask????
Take a look at a Range Rover Classic's front axle. See that weird round looking thing? THAT is the 'Ice Wheel'. M PS It works in conjuction with the 'Pfetzer Valve'. |

Ooooohh
whats a Pfetzer valve! I want I want I will give you the 2600 for that! ARB side gear conversion seems like a good idea but why did you not just buy the 4.7 salisbury ARB? Does it not bolt in to 101 axles? Ron PS you have to say things like all new internals when you are asking for big bucks for some otherwise inexpensive axles. PPS NO ONE knows anything about ENVs?
