Engine swap
I have the chance to get a used 3.9 with 90k miles on it at a pretty good price. I have a 3.5 now with a edelbrock 1404 carb and edelbrock intake manifold. I am planning on taking the manifold and carb off the 3.5 and moving it to the 3.9, I dont have the time or the money to make the EFI work the wa it should so am sticking with the carb which works pretty well now and have had few problems with that set up. Does anyone forsee problems with this? Things to consider?

Should be completely straightforward. I'm not sure what you're using for a fuel pump, but you may need to swap the front cover.

I have a low pressure FP in the fuel tank, I would think I shouldnt have to do anything with it since I am sticking with the carb setup.

I wasn't sure if you had a mechanical fuel pump driven from the cam-in which case, you would have needed to swap the front cover...
Good luck and let us know how it goes. If AFI has his way, I'll be doin' an engine swap in my rig sooner than expected. PT

Sadly, it will be a 4.0 with a hot cam. The 3.9 is very tired, the 4th gear shift valve is shot on the ZF and the LT-230 was run dry for an unknown period of time. The 4.0 that's going in only has ~70K miles and was junked due to arson damage to the passenger compartment (I can sure find them, eh?).
Compared to the mileage on the 3.9, this drivetrain will be new! I had wanted to do the 4.2 and the whole deal, but with an impending move to Oregon, it was necessary to do something now to be able to wheel it in the interim and also to be able to drive it out west. I just (literally just a few minutes ago) listed the residence and the rental for sale to allow the move.
