I searched a bit yesterday for some answers about a tick on a 99 LRS2. I read it could be a multitude of things from a cat to a sticky lifter. The rover has 144k miles.

It's not mine yet, its for sale. The guy couldn't really give me a reason of why he was selling it. I know he's not into offroading so I don't thing it was abused in that way. I'm not a mechanic and I don't want to get in over my head. I have a 93 Bronco for that. I'm looking for more or less a DD.

BTW, he was asking $3k for it. I got him down to $2500. I figured that was pretty decent with all things considered. Its white, w/ dual sunroofs and everything inside works as it should and the interior is clean from the pics I've seen. The only thing that is missing is the spare tire.

So any ideas, thoughts, or suggestions on the tick?

I would not buy one for a DD unless I just wanted to work on it all the time. I had a 99 DII, sold it for my 04 Golf. The price is about average, could be a multitude of thing going on with the engine.
