the axles are pretty run of the mill spec for over here in the uk,
24 spline ARB lockers in each axle with shafts & cv's from rovingtracks in the front & a pair of GKN HD shafts in the back,

took it out to compete with the local club at a trial (cone dodging) on the 1st april

performed faultlessly all day & im really pleased with how its going with the new allisport goodies fitted www.allisport.com (charge cooler system & 5 branch exhaust manifold)

Some how, i ended up being first in class & first modified with also the lowest total score on the day, dunno how that happened considering mine was the biggest vehicle there
some pictures we took

Now that there is a proper old school off road motor.

No 40 inch tyres, no 14 inches of suspension travel, no Kings (brah?) or any other complicated or expensive bits.
A simple truck which has its limitations, and indeed absolute capability defined by the skill of the driver.

As an aside, it's always nice to win when you go out trialing.

The million dollar question though?
Is that charge cooler giving a better responce to the throttle than the old intercooler?

right, best bring this thread up to date for anyone thats interested,

we took part in King of the Valleys which im sure you have read about on here, but if not

king of the Valleys 2012

well we came we saw we did our best which resulted in an 8th Oa finish which resulted in us qualifying for KOV 2013,

things we knew we needed to improve on was Steering & drive train, plus a little bit of steering geometry thrown in for good measure,

So after a fair bit of discussion we now have
Discovery 2 axles under it to help increase our track & correct our scrub radius, the only downside to this is it then ment new wheels & tyres

New fox coilovers in 14" flavour with reserviors (previous coilovers were only emulsion) supplied by Downsouth Motorsports,

Set of 16" maxxis Trapador Comp stickys

Psc full hydro steer kit Supplied by Letzroll Offroad

have regeared from 3.54 to 4.11 which are fully overhauled & pegged By v8megasquirt.co.uk

in between times we had a small trip out to KOH with the Letzroll team where we had an awesome week & i cant really thank the guys enough for helping us out & looking after us,

I also have to thank simon saines for making sure we were ok whilst out in johnson valley

anyhow

pictures i hear you cry..........

KOV12

winter rebuild

will post more pictures as we go & get the suspension finished & the axles all sorted underneath it

at the moment in the uk, the treps are the only tyre that is readily available on the market,

simex are approx $500 a tyre & creepys are only really available on the 2nd hand market,

so far since sunday ive managed to get all the old shock mounts cut off & cleaned up & all the new mounts fitted,

now i bet your thinking "that doesnt sound too hard?" the new shocks are 14" travel instead of the previous 12" travel shocks, & thus are 3" longer than before

so had major issues on the front trying to get a quart into a pint pot, need to modify the skid plate as the front prop hits that, but we got there in the end & we now have 14" of travel on the front,

on the rear it was a bit more of a faff as the rear axle is about 1" further back than before, that throws another dimension into the mix,

any how....

we have some pictures

front fully built up

rear in progress

blank canvas
