State moving ahead with plans to take funds from OHV

Despite our efforts to let the state legislators know how important our OHV fund is to us, the legislation that will allow up to $21 million to be diverted from the OHV fund to State Parks was approved by the legislature today.

Without a line item veto by Governor Brown, the legislation will automatically take effect on July 1.

Please call Governor Brown's office right now at (916) 445-2841 to urge him to veto this legislation.

The legislation to take the funds was sponsored by State Senator Joe Simitian.

Improved news!

I saw a statement on another OHV website by Gov. Brown. He has reduced the amount of $$ being stolen from the OHV trust fund from $21M to $7M. $14M will be going into the OHV Trust fund from the fuel taxes.
I'm waiting for a link to the posted document to confirm it.

It does appear that the Governor took less money out of the OHV Trust Fund than what Smitian wanted - but, it also only allocates $10 Million for the grants program. Not much will be going out this year to keep ohv areas open.
