Dear Trail User,

We will be making a major announcement on Tuesday about our 1st officially targeted key House race where you have a pro-trail candidate being specifically targeted for defeat by a far-left environmental PAC. That race is neck and neck right now so our support will make a difference.

DONATE HERE TO SUPPORT 10-20 TARGETED HOUSE RACES . . . http://www.thetrailpac.com/donate.html

Thanks for your continued support!

What does $4K buy?
Honest question, I dunno. Super PACs are skewing the news with super monies, and a half billion dollars of money may be in play in this election cycle.
I know the intent is to spend focused dollars on focused fights, where it can have the most effect, but what does $4K buy, and about what percent of dollars donated goes to direct support, as opposed to indirect administrative support?

It isn't obvious to me, or I wouldn't be asking. I can easily see how million-dollar PACs impact the process, but I'm not sure about smaller ones. I know we have to start small to get big, but I'm wondering how the jump is made from small to large.

I've no axe to grind, I'm honestly wondering.

Randii,

While Super PACs can spend unlimited amounts on non-coordinated ads, etc to help a candidate... the fed candidate can only receive limits amounts of money from various donors (see limits)

http://www.fec.gov/info/contriblimits1112.pdf

That is why a few thousand dollars from TPAC or somebody else means a lot to a candidate.

Hope this helps.

Todd et al,

No problem. In tight congressional races, that extra few K really helps.

So the key is coordination... and TPAC would be in a position to work WITH the candidate, right? This is making a lot of sense to me, then, because working closely with a candidate BEFORE the election should really help with relations AFTER the election.

The news puts so much focus on the presidential race, sometimes I miss the trees (congress/senate) for the forest (Washington).

thanks,

Randii,

As an independent PAC we do not actually work with a candidate, but simply support that candidate's race to get into office. Supporting candidates that share and support your views is one of the most important activities that one can do.

Thanks,

Don
