Hearing some rumors from some local pals of mine that the right people have bitched and stated that if Spicer rd is not repaired and opened that it would kill summer business in the area which is true, rumor has it that it and Slick Rock will be open sometime this summer. If I hear more RUMORS I will post them up!

Excepting the pay-to-stay campground droning with the sounds of generators their isn't really much "direct" revenue generated by Spicer, Slick Rock or Alpine per say excepting monies expended by the few who enjoy "improved camping" or are ill prepared and need ice, fuel or other small items from local business establishments on the Hwy 4 corridor.

Most of those who live in the area are "left" and don't want loggers or motorized anything in the little enclave they've carved out over the past three decades so it's hard to imagine "they" are the "right people" rumored!

I hope it's true butt I wouldn't hold my wind . . .

The Spicer road is the only access for PGE operations personnel to 3 dams, so I would think it will be made passable, if not already. Back in the day, when the Tractor Road, now called Slick Rock, was the only way to Spicer, Utica and Union, I don't know who wanted in there more, Troop 5 or PGE.

Yes, and there are many others leading to larger dams and locking down entire communities to deal with as well.

And I was mistaken, they're not PGE dams, I think they belong to NCPA.

I'm trying to figure out why Slick Rock is closed when it can be accessed via Alpine (still open).

If part of the trail is washed out, we can step up & fix that (unless it's related to the water crossings & they are using sediment issues)

Alpine side/west entrance has been shut down due to the trail head sharing private property. The trail runs along side a meadow that over the years people just cant stop driving through for some reason never mind the log barriers and signs up..

This entrance has been operating for many years on what seems to be a verbal easement made possible by adopt a trail, clubs and FS intervention with the old owners.

Land has been sold and the new owners closed it up and have refused to sell access to the FS as did the previous owners but at least they were willing to work with the off road community.

What I last heard is that the forest service is working towards a reroute.

Hope it happens.

Better hope it's not a reroute onto a half mile loop trail that goes nowhere!

All these years spent fighting to get as many of the "42 Route" closure trails opened as possible, with more remaining.

High value trails locked away for nearly ten years now and some selfish self-absorbed punk azz biatches come in there, tear it the phaq up and piss in the faces of those who expended so much time and effort to accomplish what has been done thus far???

There are plenty of disabled Veterans injured in the Dune Wars who wanted to go back badly for the thrill of the hunt but were too disabled. They now wheel these and other trails around our Nation to feel freedom and enjoy what they fought for.

They still have the desire to hunt in 'em . . . all they need is a good reason!

NOTE: I realize Slick Rock wasn't one of the "42 Routes" but this isn't the first time bad actors have put it in jeopardy of closure! It's a trail I always hit on my way to Hermit Valley and the Deer Valley Trail gate keeper entry point.

Back in the day, jerks like the pukes you mention played in the Slick Rock trail creek out of Alpine much as they did on/in the Bassi Falls trail/creek making them both their personal alternate "Little Sluices".

This sort of blatantly destructive activity brought about the lockdown of trails that led to the base of Bassi Falls.

ALL of Slick Rock is soon to follow IMHO if the crap continues.
