Angry Yellowstone closed to snowmobilers

I see where Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks are being closed to snowmobiles. This is reported to be at a loss of $16.5 million dollars and 400 jobs. The ban is opposed by all the local leaders and civic groups and by the congressional delegations of Montana and Wyoming. Snowmobiles leave no tracks in the spring so the only issues are exhaust and noise.
Once again this administration goes against the will of the people directly affected by their actions, just to further their own cause.
I bring this up because just a couple weeks ago The Craters of the Moon National Monument was expanded against the will of the Idaho congressional delegations.
At this time a big push is on to create a national monument in the Owyhee/Bruneau canyonlands of Idaho. While some of this area is pristine beautiful canyonlands, some of it is a dedicated OHV area. The proposal is for 2.7 million acres and was expanded to specifically take in the OHV park so it could be shut down. I started wheeling this area in the early 70's. When I look at pictures from back then and now you cannot tell the difference so it's not like the place is being trashed.
The group pushing the proposal has publicly stated they are seeking approval from Clinton before he goes out of office.
My question now is how come when the off road community wants something these people scream for studies and "public Process", but when they want something it's "for the good of everyone"?

F'n Eco Natzis... Dam, Now I am pissed... I hate to hear that land is closed to snowmobiles..
Why? They can make sound level laws? db.

Snowmobiles have some of the cleanest emmissions going. (maybee not as clean as a califorina car smog) but not far from it.

If I can I'll take my snowmobile to a friendly garage and check the smog. Now I want to know. Man that sucks. Big time.. Even though I would not plan on snowmobiling out there, What about the people who have $10,000 tied up in snowmobiles and now they cant ride???

F'n Eco natzis....

I'm not a snowmobiler so it doesn't directly affect me it's just the idea of all these closures.
The emissions on a snowmobile are said to be high, but we're talking some serious acres here.
My point I guess is if they can pull this off shutting down off road areas that don't generate revenue will be a slam dunk.

Wait a second.. Everyone on this board should be interested! This could be your favorite wheeling spot that gets closed next.. Get involved, I personally have never ridden a snowmobile (due to lack of time and money, though I want to someday), but I have WRITTEN numerous letters to all sorts of people on this subject for the past year or so. My point is that everyone needs to get involved, You can see how much difference one vote is making in the election. Imagine if everyone on this board wrote at least one letter a mointh...Think of the impact it would have..I know most of you prob. do write letters, and that I'm just preaching to the choir, But this is important!.. Get involved, we can make a difference!</FONT c>

The Owyhee Canyonlands I referenced is some outstanding wheelin'. It has some of the best rock crawling in our area.
Congressman Larry Craig has said if this 2.7 million acres gets closed he will fight our battle. But it will be tough because once it's designated a monument it takes congress to reverse it. Fat chance.
