The activism is coming in from all over - NO JOHN TURNER!

"Land Grabber" John Turner is the former Director of the Fish and Wildlife

Service under Presidents Clinton and Bush Sr. He is currently President
of
the Conservation Fund, a controversial land acquisition trust fund.

His record includes listing as many endangered species as possible,
followed
by regulatory harassment of land owners and purchase of their land for a
fraction of its former value.

He is a personal friend of Vice President Dick Cheney, and so is in the

running
for a top administration appointment

REPORT FROM WYOMING:

Mel was able to sit with Sen. Mike Enzi and his wife at our local
Republican
Dinner last weekend. Mel gave them many reasons not to back
Turner and
Turner was a main topic of conversation in the question/answer -
it was
quite obvious he is not supported by Fremont County, Wyoming
Republicans.

Hollings, as well as sent emails to President Bush and VP Cheney strongly

opposing Mr. Turner. I have received confirmation from the White House
our
emails were received. I hope we are successful.

MIKE HAYDEN - another addition to the "Turner Team."

John Turner is attempting to install an entire team of Land Grabbers to

help him become Czar of all environmental policy.

Mike Hayden is a former Governor of Kansas, and worked with Turner as the

Assistant Secretary for Fish, Wildlife and Parks at the Interior
Department.
He was supposedly the boss of John Turner and the Fish and
Wildlife Service
in that position.

His primary claim to fame is his longtime membership in the League of
Conservation
Voters (LCV). He was Chairman and a longtime Board member at
LCV.

LCV spends 95% to 98% of its money attacking Republicans who support
private
property rights. Hayden is a former Republican Governor of Kansas,
who
helps to direct these attacks as an LCV Board member - so try to figure

that one out.

Here is LCV's March 2, 2001 email alert to its members. It recommends

designating ANWR, the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge, a wilderness area
in
order to prohibit oil exploration. These are Mike Hayden's people,
and he
is on the John Turner Land Grabbing Team.

**In response to the growing outrage over proposals to drill in the Arctic

Refuge, a bipartisan group of House lawmakers are set to introduce
legislation
this week to designate the wildlife refuge as a "wilderness"
area, which
would ban all drilling.

The press conference will be held by Reps. Markey (D-MA) and Johnson (R-CT)

on Wednesday. The bill already has 107 Republican and Democratic
co-sponsors:
