Cool Raising funds for land issues

Why don't the differnt parts outlets and tire man. impose a self tax to raise moneys for the land issues? The bow hunters and others have done this for years to raise money to fight the animal rights people. I wouldn't mind paying a small fee of each of my purchases to fight the "green peoples". What do you think????

Raising "land use" money from all the businesses that we support sounds like a great idea! I don't think a "self tax" would be the way to do it, more of a "voluntary donation of a percentage of procedes" being given to groups like BRC and U4WDA. A tax would have to be done through legislation, and any time people see or hear "tax" they run the other way. This would also meet huge amounts of opposition from the greens, we have better things to spend our money on than fighting legislation. If the businesses adopt some sort of voluntary program though, the greens can't do sh1t about it. Any thoughts or ideas on how to get it started?

In addition to the "voluntary procedes percentage donation program" from businesses, we could use their store fronts and customer traffic to get the public more involved. Maybe BRC, U4WDA, and CA4WDC could spend a few bucks on those little lockable countertop donation boxes. Each member club could be responsible for distributing and servicing the boxes, collecting, and turning in the monies collected.

I will be at the annual 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers show next weekend and I'll see if I can get a hold of one or two of the "head honchos" and bring up the idea to them. Maybe they could get the ball rolling. If a National chain like 4WPW could get something started, all the other smaller shops should have no problem getting involved.

Any other thoughts??

How about putting Donation collection jugs, like the kind Jerry's kids uses, next to all sympathetic cash registers to help in funding diversified (motorized) land use issues.

Cool

I probably used the wrong word "tax". I know that hunting equipment sometimes have stickers or p/w that states a portion of the price of this goes to hunters rights or support the grasses that bambi eats....Maybe BFG could state that the price of the tire goes to protecting the land we drive on.

Another thought..

Thumbs up

I'm in! When do we get started? I'll call Jeri Ferguson from Cal4Wheel and see what she says. Maybe she can help us out.
