US to ban IHV from 9.4 million acres, including MOAB!
US-House-subcommittee-to-consider-banning-riding-OHV-on-9.4 million acres
Looks like Moab might be no more. At the same time, the western US states need to come to grips with a possible future of "pay-to-play" off-roading. And OOPS! that was OHV not IHV in the title

That won't get very far... too many groups targeted at one time.

I'm a resident of Salt Lake and I go to Moab frequently. I have already written my congressman about this, but Utah can't stand alone.
The Skull Valley is home to a nuclear waste dump that has been pushed on us, yet we don't get any of our power from reactors. Now there is a proposal to bring in high-level waste and even foreign nuclear waste from Italy. This would make Utah the only international nuclear waste dump in the world, and it's only an hour from Salt Lake City. We recently had a coal-fired power plant built in central Utah that provides electricity only to California and pollutes our air. Now, in the name of "environmentalism" some representative from New York wants to take away one of our main sources of income in half the state and the ability for locals to use their own land. The feds already control over 70% of my state, and without help from other states we will be shut out of our own land and our own roads; roads we paid to maintain and many have been there since before Utah was a state. Please, write your representative about this bill and aks them to support us in standing up for state's rights. |

i don't know how much more i can take of this. everytime i turn around there's another land grab happening. at this point we could spend all day writing letters to asshats who dont give a damn because it doesn't matter if we're mad cause we're a small minority. also it's politically popular to be a super extremist enviro-nazi these days, and the general american public are a bunch of sheep who could give a shit less.
i'm not saying that we shouldn't write washington because thats all we have left as well as donating to off-road organizations. i'm just so frustrated.

Utah is a target
All of us (big org types) try to always support the Moab boys and girls -- they are a constant target. Why is that, you might ask? The answer, for me, is related to a strategy of war and terror -- go after the things your enemy loves. Moab, Rubicon Trail, Glamis, and other famous places that we love. They ARE targets by those who oppose what we love to do.
What do we do in return? We return the favor, that's what!!! We go after the things they love -- politicians, Wilderness, and wacky regulations to restrict our freedoms. How do we do that? We build up the Access Army so it's large and powerful enough to fight back, get folks unelected, stop Wilderness and preserve our freedoms. Simple. Here's a bit more on the Utah mess: http://www.sharetrails.org/alerts/?alert=1070 Del
