The diff cover on that Currie axle is welded because it has a dropout 3rd member. Also the tubes are swedged into the housing a feature that Currie does offer and with the offset thats not uncommon lots of rear axles are not always dead center. Id say call Currie up with that serial number and see if they cant track it down and tell you what it originally was setup for. Nice find for cheap!
