Hey - I haven't ever had one that was locked solid (spooled/welded) up front. Turns will be wide, you will want hydro-assist steering most likely. Lockouts will be your friend - you can unlock one and make turns easier until you go hydro assist.
'Front dig' is a situation where the rear wheels are disengaged from the rest of the drivetrain, the front wheels are turned hard to one side, the brakes are held, and the front axle is used to 'drag' (dig) the truck around a corner. Which is why 'twin-stick' modifications / setups are popular.
