Thanks Jim. I think we have come up with the same conclusion in this morning meeting and will probably go with O2/Air. Do you know what is typical for the tank setup? Do we need to go with single bottles or 6-12 packs of O2? We will probably be cutting 4-5 hrs a day, mostly 1/4"-3/8" plate. I'm not sure what the consumption rate will be on the gas. Jim had given me a chart that had 150 SCFH on it but he wasn't sure for what process that was for.

Jim, I just got from messer today after some training on a 12x42' table we bought from them with a HPR400. We ran some test cuts with O2 and air but we saw it run a few years back with air/air with good results. We were able to dial it in close on the air and will have to tweak it just a little once we get it set up in its new home but think it's doable with just the air. 2 questions. Is there any problems with running just air? As far as wearing anything prematurely? Jim (with messer) said that it may extend the life of the consumables because O2 is more corrosive but said to check with you. 2) is there a cut chart available for air/air if it is a viable solution for cutting?

    Thanks

    Jim,

I want to upgrade my torchmate table to a Hypertherm Powermax 85 with a 25 foot machine torch. Can you tell me the numbers I need to get every thing I will need? Also there is a gentleman that wants to sell a 3 month old Powermax 85 with just a hand torch. What beside a machine torch would I need to buy to convert it use on the cnc table?

    Thank you,

    Hi Jim,
I need a little Hypertherm purchase advise. Eventually I want to get a 4x8 Torchmate set up but it will have to wait for now. I do need a new plasma cutter as my old one just quit. I would like to get the Powermax 85 cutter to replace for hand held cutting but want to make sure I order it with what it needs to use it on the Torchmate table when I finally get one. Can you tell me what to look for or the model number of the unit I should find?
    Thanks

    Jim,

We finally got the torchmate x w/HPR130xd up and running last week and cut our first parts on friday afternoon. This afternoon I went to turn on the machine and try to cut more parts but for some reason the Hypertherm EdgePro touch screen is not interactive. I can power it down and back up, but once it gets to the main page for Hypertherm, it becomes inactive. I can't manually jog the machine or anything. Do you have any thoughts on the matter? I did speak with Mike at Torchmate and Charles at Hypertherm, both are trying to determine where the problem is. Your input would be appreciated as well.

    hypertherm/torchmate?

    hi jim,
I have a question for you I just purchased a new torchmate x and a powermax 85. I did not get the cutter from torchmate source it from my local airgas. I got the plasma set up for cnc with a machine torch and hypertherm cnc cable it plugs right into my avhc I am wondering if this may be the wrong cable? do I need to get the one from torchmate or is it the same as hypertherms? the reason I am asking is my plasma won' t fire on my machine? I can't remember the part # offhand.
    thanks

If you jumper pins 3 to 4 and the hand torch fires...then there is no trigger interlock.

    Hi Jim,

I have a Hypertherm question that I'm hoping you might be able to help me with - I'm over here in sunny England and I've just received my Torchmate 2x2. I've managed to lay my hands on an almost unused Powermax 900 with the pilot arc and machine interface options installed and I'm wondering if this machine is old enough (1999) not to have the machine interface/hand torch safety interlock?

I'm quite happy to splice into the trigger wires but if the machine doesn't have the safety interlock then I'd rather use the machine interface. I've checked the wiring diagrams and I can't see anything that looks like it would lock out the machine interface when a hand torch is connected.

    Just wondering...

    Thanks,

Tim (in a very rainy London!)
