84 G Wagon with 88hp engine

Ok, so there's this mintish 84 G wagen I have found, absolutely incredible truck... but that motor, after 3F landcruiser it's just too slow... if I was on morphine it would still be too slow. So, I'm a gas guy and know little to 0 about diesels, can someone tell me about how much I might be able to up my 88hp to with just tuning and low budget add on's, then how much more with a middle of the road turbo and maybe intercooler? I don't want to go nuts either with cash or trying to blow up my motor, just want to get out of peoples way a little quicker. thanks! Ope, also,,,, whats the easiest gas 6 to swap into this rig with a plate adapter??? I have a 3F laying around.... Thanks

88 HP = non-turbo 3-liter 5 cylinder?

Tell ya what - tell me where it is and I'll buy it as is and drive it happily.

If you refuse, then you might find it isn't too hard to get 125 or better out of the MB 3.0 diesel.

125 with or without turbo? Btw, it's in South America and they want allot ($7.5K) for it by US standards as they do with all used cars down here.

Ok, then I guess it's yours.

Add a turbo and some good parts from a 617.95??(cannot remember exact suffix) turbodiesel MBZ car.

Actually I take that back. Usually a rig down here is 30% or more over what you can buy it for in the US/ Canada, but from just looking around 7.5 is not bad for this at all if it's as clean as it's supposed to be, have not seen it yet but will and shall file a report.

Yup, get a 617-A, which is a 5 cylinder 3.0L turbo from a 82-85 300 sedan. Should bolt in and can use clutch from original motor. 125hp stock.
