Those are super cool. Is there a company on that side of the pond that's selling those, or are they one-offs?

Check out the diffs. Those don't look like 404s to me, they look like the 3 piece axles, but I can't remember if they're 406's, 416's, or both.

snipped from elsewhere

I snipped this info for you from elsewhere.
as usual Chris is THE MAN

The one with the winch has a 403 chassis and the other
(trials rig) has a 406 chassis. They are owned by Paul
Stolz in Germany. If you want to know more look up
the Oct. 2000 issue of "4 Wheel Fun", they did a
complete write-up on it.

Yup, I have dreamed of my hybrid for a few years, and it is finally coming together in my garage.

http://fareast4x4.com/tech/mog.html

A quick overview of the project:
I am taking the chassis, tranny/t-case, suspension, axles, wheels, and tires from the unimog. And the motor, cab, bed and ony other parts I need from the Nissan, and kind of kitbashing them together.

So I will either end up with:

A Unimog, that has nice seats, legroom, a nice stereo, A/C, heat, and about 160hp.

or

A Nissan pickup with an 8-speed tranny, mechanical diff locks, torque tube suspension, 37" tires, 17" of ground clearance, and all the gear reduction I could hope for.

The cab will hopefully come off the Nissan this week, then the real fun begins.

That is Dr. Dan's Rock Mog. It has a chevy 350 in it, and 4-wheel steer.

those actually look small they are probably about 37" agricultural tires.

You can get them in the states, just goto a agricultural tire supplier.

The tires are probably Michelin XM47's. You can get them from about 40" to about 45" on 20 inch rims and they're DOT rated to 55 mph. The Ag guys I've talked to say they've gone 50k+ miles on them and still had good tread.

About $550 each for the "small" ones.

I'm bretty sure thoes aren't XM47's, but they are similar, and from what I know 47's are the only tire with a big azz chevron tread that are DOT legal. I intend to run XM47's on my hybrid when I kill the xl's on it.

Now that I look again, I think you're right. Too small and not deep enough lugs for xm47's. Perhaps the XM27's??

Can't wait to see issue 5 of the hybrid build - looks great so far.
