What do I need
So, after living 28 years without ever hearing of a mog, I saw one for the first time yesterday. It was so freakin' cool, that I'm thinking I've gotta have one to go along with my '83 fj40... problem is, I don't know anything about them!
Do I need a special license to drive one? I notice they come in 6 speed up to 20(?) speed?? Where can I get info on them? Is there anyone out there in the Nashville, TN area that has one? A club? Any for sale? Is there a huge difference between the 404's and 416's? I really dig the big cab on the 416 Dokas!! thanks for any info! |

Not a prob, that's why we are here. Quote:
nope, your normal driver's license is enough, as they don't exceed the weight rating that the lic. gives you. They take some getting used to, but aren't that bad to drive. Quote:
Depending on where you live there are lots of good people to talk to.....check here..... http://www.rockymountainmoggers.com/links.html that is pretty much the comprehensive list of unimog info, dealers, and personal pages. Quote:
Contact these guys....they are in your area..... http://www.geocities.com/kyunimogs/ Quote:
look through the info provided in the Rock Mountain Moggers links, and you will learn a great deal.

dual Cab's
Their is a dual cab of sorts available in all the models 404 and up. Have seen some make vervy nice second half of cab for 404's.
Other differences are frames. From 404 on up the frames get stiffer with each new generation. They all share Torque tubes. Modification is hard.... very little room in engine bay and the Torque tube limits u unless ur ok with doing a new 3 or 4 link suspension so u can upgrade to more modern engine, tranny, Tcase.
