Mog Axles

Okay I have a few Questions about the different Mog axles made. We have the Mog here in a Military app but they look different to all the pics I have seen here.....

It isn't the torque tubes but the diff housings the ones here are Disc brakes standard and the diff housing splits in half and they are huge compared to the ones in the pics but then again some tyre sizes they have been with may distort the real size....

Trying to find out there usefullness in trail trucks.....

Any help?

Does the differential housing actually split in half, or is the diff housing a ring which the axle tubes bolt to?

The pics of the Mog diffs are exactly the same as the ones here so I assume it is the same model.....I can't get the site to come up at the moment but they are the diffs I described....

Those things are absolute crap. Not worth anything. Send them to me so that I can dispose of them for you. How about you pay shipping and we call it even?

Actually those should make some sweet trail truck axles. I don't know how easy it would be to get parts for them though, or how expensive the parts would be. I know that you can buy these axles directly from Benz for $12,000 without brakes.

I have heard that setting up the ring and pinion is a nightmare on these axles. Hopefully you would never have to do that. I am sure it is hard to fins someone who knows how to do it.

They look to me in the pictures that they would weigh a little less than the 3 peice cast axles. The whole axle housing loooks to be smaller, with smaller OD axle tubes. The hubs look very much like the hubs on my U-1300's. The outer knuckles look a little smaller on this axle though.

Not to hijack your thread, but is their anyone here who can tell me anything about my axles(i.e. year of manufacturer) from their serial #'s?

Sean

Actually I do not mind if everyone has a say if they have good info on Mog diffs as the information available is very limited. I have access to manuals for end users to service this stuff (military) and even they only have broad generic topics and about a four thousand page on how to set up the brakes....

These diffs are 12,000 USD from Benz bugger that is a lot of beer....

Anyway I know where there are heaps of em it's just a matter of convincing the Government to lend me a few.....

Where will should this thread go....Well I have read the others and I have been to several sites on Mog stuf but the Info for research purposes is of a very limited nature especially the later model diffs so please any info on these is appreciated and I will post some more as I get some for my sources......
