how do I take it apart?

I want to remove 318 Obviously I removed the bolt 328. Are the splines just a tight press? I am guessing they are but just thought I'd ask if there was anything else I needed to do before screwing up my NOS parts.

Yes, its pressed together. To remove you need a spezcial tool. (or take the hub apart and take a press).

I don't like hammering the hub back on. I will make an instalation tool or do it the way Wolfgang shows it.

That is a good link for changing wheel seals.

There is another way to do it if you don't have the fancy puller and stuff.

If you look close at the picture of part #318 you will notice that there are 6 holes for the wheel studs, and there are 2 smaller holes at opposite ends. The smaller holes are threaded and I can't remember what size thread it is but its designed so that you put a bolt in to back it off. Tighten them down and get a mallet and smack part #318 as you turn it... every turn or so tighted down the bolts and then smack part #318 as you rotate it.

With a bit of smackin and maybe some lube use P.B. Blaster) it'll come off no problem.

Later.

Put the part #318 back onto the spines and gentrly wack it back on until you can put part #328 back in. It'll tighten up when you crank down #328.

Later.
