my 1988 pajero, whats left of it!

This is my pajero, same as the raider in the us i think.

Old pic.

There's not much of the mitsubishi left, it's been a long journey to get to where it is now.

Spec is;
2.8 isuzu 4jb1tc turbo diesel
Range rover zf4hp22 automatic gearbox
Land rover lt230 transfer box
Landcruiser hdj80 elocked axles
Superwinch h14 pto winch
37x13 boggers

I'm in the middle of making a cage for it to stop the body getting any more battered.

Got the front half of the cage started today, this is the main roll structure done. I'm going to do all the body protection and triangulation in smaller tube.

That's a unique cage design. I kinda dig it.

Its a fairly conventional cage for the uk, the front hoop is normally one piece but my design will still meet the regulations here.

Very cool! With the solid LC axles it looks a lot like a 70 series LC

Im doing the same to my Dads Raider, do you have pics of the steering linkage and the panhard bar, I know with the landcruisers its behined the axle, Im fighting geometry with keeping the truck low and stuffing the links and panhard and steering all in one spot.

I do but I they won't mean much as my chassis rails aren't standard, and i'm using a landrover steering box.

I think i've about finished putting tubes in the cage now, I just need to build the snorkel and finish off the mountings then i can take it off and fully weld it all.

Great Job! I love it, I really like the fact you used the FZJ80 axles. That is something I would like to upgrade to when the funds are available.
Is the rear linked or are you using the Montero rear radius arms? It looks good!

The 80 series axles really are very good, one of the best things i like about them is the amount of steering lock they have.

The rear end on mine uses the stock 80 series 5 link setup.

Yes I agree. I think they are a perfect upgrade for the Montero/Pajero! They are very close in width, I think the FZJ axles are only 1-2" wider total wms to wms. Also Using the stock Toyota 5 link setup is wise since it works so well! No re-calculating the suspension (even though thats half the fun right there) it just depends haw far or custom you want to go.
I assume the stainless tube is your snorkel? Unorthodox, but effective!

Also, what year front axle did you decide to go with, or did both axles come out of the same vehicle? I think there are slight differences from 90-91 to 97-98 other than ABS. I'm searching for axles now.

I believe they are LR Defender 90/110 flares, but I could be wrong. I have seem them on a few Montero/Pajeros but mainly in Europe. I'm trying to find those flares myself or at least something that fits and looks as good as those. The LR D90 flares are expensive and very hard to find here in the US. From what I hear they fit the Monteros perfectly.

Adrian.
