99 endeavour on 33's. Brake question
Should I be able to lock up the wheels with 33's and emergency braking at say 5/10mph? Replaced the pads rotors calipers and hoses and bled it all and it still seems a little anemic. I'm wondering if my brake master cylinder is worn out - truck has 200k on it.

What the hell are you talking about? The parking brake has zero function through the master cylinder.
It sounds to me like you just have no idea what your fucking with. ![]() Seriously bring your truck to a mechanic.

First off, Mitsubishi never made a 1999 Montero Endeavor. It was only offered in 2000. Second, the emergency brake does not activate the ABS. The emergency brake is a manual system that runs on cables and it locks up the rear wheels only. It is very similar to the brake system on a bicycle.

By emergency braking I mean mash on the pedal as hard as possible, not pull the ebrake. And I am a very experienced mechanic/machinist but every automobile platform has a different ideal braking capability. This is my first experience with the Montero on 33's in the offroad scene as I usually stick to euro racing.
Most of the euro stuff that I work with is definitely capable of actuating the ABS or locking up depending on the equipment. My Montero won't kick over the ABS with 33's no matter what. |

Hrm.
Good info - no lower limit on ABS actuation. Most bosch ABS cuts out at 5mph if that was your starting speed when you initiated braking.
However, my main point is that the vehicle is incapable of braking strongly enough to cause ABS to step in. I can feel that the vehicle is on the edge of the wheels stopping/ABS coming on but it never quite makes it there. Went ahead and ordered a new MC since it was cheap ($56.00) and will see if that helps any. |
