need to find a trans for 84 4x4 diesel
so i have an all factory chassis d-50 that has been in the family since new, i love this truck so much. unfortunately it needs a new tranny something feirce (ive pulled two synchro rings from the pan so far) and the km 145 is neigh impossible to find.
anybody have one or know of where i can get one? |

the best combo for you would be a late gen 1 V6/early gen 2 hydraulic controlled KM148 lockup/AW2 transmission with a gen 1 4 cylinder bellhousing from the KM148 transmission. Or if you're looking to go cheap just get the KM148 from the gen 1 4 cylinder 1987-1990, they're non lockup but they'll hold together for a long time.

You should be able to find one at your local pick a part. Also parts are available for these trannies through most shops. Just tell them it is the same tranny that is found in the 4 cylinder Montero from 1983-1990ish. There is no need to retrofit it to a cable actuated trans.
